Shopify conversion rate optimisation. Same traffic, more sales.

You're already paying for the traffic. We find where shoppers hesitate, fix it, and test the fix.

Where stores leak

Every step loses someone.

The job is finding the step where you lose the most.

What we check

Six questions. One for every step.

Where the leak is decides the fix. Here is what we look at on each step of the way to an order.

  1. Landing01
Can they tell what you sell, fast?A clear promise above the fold, and navigation that matches how people shop your range.
  2. Product page02
Does it answer every question?Sizing, materials, delivery times, returns and reviews, right where the decision happens.
  3. Add to cart03
Is the next step obvious on a phone?Variant pickers that make sense, a button you can't miss, and nothing slow in the way.
  4. Cart04
Any surprises?Shipping costs revealed late kill carts. So do discount code boxes that send people off hunting.
  5. Checkout05
Can they pay how they like?Shop Pay, Apple Pay and buy-now-pay-later options like Afterpay, which many Australians expect.
  6. Order✓
And will they come back?Post-purchase emails, easy reorders and a reason to return. The cheapest sale is the second one.

Research first

Pages built on evidence, not guesses.

Before we change anything, we find out what's actually happening on your store.

  • Analytics, split by device and source.
  • Session recordings and heatmaps.
  • What customers tell you in surveys and reviews.
  • A speed and UX audit on real phones.

The output is a fix list ranked by impact.

Test, or just fix?

Honest testing for real traffic.

We match the method to your traffic, not the other way round.

Fix it

BROKEN THINGS

A slow page, a confusing size picker, shipping costs that appear too late. If it's clearly broken, testing just delays the fix. We fix it and measure before and after.

Test it

BIG BETS

A new product page layout, a different navigation, a reworked cart. With enough traffic, we run a proper A/B test with Shopify Rollouts, available on the Grow plan and above, or a testing app.

Keep it

EVERY MONTH

Winners get rolled out. Losers teach us something. Each month you get a short roadmap of what we learned and what to try next.

Questions

Good questions. Straight answers.

What is a good conversion rate for a Shopify store?

It depends heavily on your category, price point, traffic source and device mix, so generic benchmarks can mislead. A store selling A$400 jackets to cold Instagram traffic will convert very differently from one selling A$20 refills to returning customers.

The most useful comparison is your own store over time, split by device and traffic source.

How can I increase my Shopify conversion rate?

Start where the drop-off is biggest, which is usually the product page and cart on mobile. Answer the questions shoppers have before they buy (sizing, delivery times, returns), show reviews near the add-to-cart button, remove surprise costs at checkout, offer the payment options your customers expect, and make the store fast on mobile.

Then test bigger changes so you know what actually worked.

How do you work out what to fix first?

Most CRO goes wrong at the start, by copying a competitor's page or testing a button colour because a blog post said to. We start with evidence: your funnel split by device, traffic source and new versus returning customers, since a fine overall conversion rate often hides a broken mobile experience; session recordings and heatmaps of real shoppers; short on-site surveys, post-purchase questions and your reviews; and a speed and UX audit on real phones.

The output is a fix list ranked by impact: what's likely costing you the most sales, what it'll take to fix, and which changes need a test versus which are simply broken.

Does Shopify have built-in A/B testing?

Yes. Shopify Rollouts lets you split traffic between two versions of your theme and compare the results in Shopify Analytics. Running experiments needs the Grow plan or higher. For tests Rollouts can't handle, a dedicated testing app is the alternative.

Plan prices are on our Shopify cost guide.

How much traffic do I need for A/B testing?

Enough orders that a difference between two versions isn't just luck. As a rough rule, you want a few hundred orders per version, over at least two full weeks so weekdays and weekends are both covered. That rules out testing small changes on lower-traffic stores.

Below that, we fix clear problems directly and measure before and after, and save formal tests for big changes. Smaller stores still benefit from CRO; they just get more fixing and fewer formal tests.

How long does CRO take to show results?

Fixes for obvious problems can lift results as soon as they go live. A/B tests usually need to run for at least two full weeks to cover weekday and weekend behaviour, and often longer on smaller stores. A typical first sprint of research, fixes and testing runs about 6 weeks.

What does Shopify CRO cost?

CRO work runs on Accelerate at A$50 an hour. We scope a first sprint after a free strategy call so you know the hours up front, and after that you choose how much testing to do each month.
